i have a little bottle of time on my desk
a gift from a loved one long ago
i used to use it when i surf the web
or when i make a telephone call
when i have deadlines to be met
time is money, it is said
but, tonight i seem to stare at this little bottle
thoughtlessly turning it around and around
as time drops from top to bottom
over and over again
allowing my thoughts to wander
on little important things i often seem to ignore,
something i never seem to have time for
a startled blink of my eye
a surprising observation it seems
for just a second or two
the sands of time seem simply to have stopped.
